落語を通して仏教に親しむ企画「銀座の落語寺」が7月18日、築地本願寺GINZAサロンで開催されました。ご来場そしてご覧頂きありがとうございます。
まず、三笑亭可龍師匠に落語「大山詣り」を演じていただきました。江戸の男たちが、講(寺社に参詣する団体)を組んで、大山に参拝することにしました。大山は江戸っ子に人気の場所でした。参拝は無事に終わり、江戸に帰る途中で宿に泊まりました。その宿で1人の男が暴れたので、寝ている間に、他の男たちが罰として髪を全部剃りました。翌朝、その男は怒り、仕返ししようとします。
次に私が、旅行と仏教についてお話ししました。この落語では、男たちは問題なくに家に戻ってきましたが、家でトラブルに遭いました。これは良い旅行とは言えないでしょう。逆に、旅行中にトラブルがあっても、無事に帰ってくることができれば、良い思い出になります。私たちの人生は、しばしば旅に例えられます。だとすれば、人生が終わったらどこに帰るのでしょうか？ 仏教では、それはすべての苦しみから解放された世界、阿弥陀仏の世界である浄土だと教えています。私たちには安心して帰ることのできる場所があります。こうして私たちは、人生を安心して過ごすことができるのです。

On July 18, we held "Ginza-no-Rakugodera", an event to like Buddhism through Rakugo at the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza Salon. Thank you for coming and watching it.
First, Mr. SANSHOTEI Karyu performed a Rakugo "Ohyama-Mairi" (Visiting and worshipping in Mt. Ohyama). The story is following; Some men in Edo (an old name of Tokyo) made a party to worship at Mt. Ohyama, which was popular among residents of Edo. Their worship finished without incident. Then, they stayed in an inn on the way to Edo, their hometown. At the inn, a man rampaged. While his sleeping, other men shaved all his hair as a penalty. The next morning, he got angry and tried to revenge on them.
Next, I talked about the relationship between travel and Buddhism. In this Rakugo, the men had trouble at home while the travel was smooth. I think this was not good travel. On the other hand, it can become good memory that we return home safely even if we had some trouble during the travel. Our life is often compared to travel. If so, where shall we return after our life is over? Buddhism teaches us it is Pure Land, Amitayus Buddha's world, where we are relieved from all suffering. We have a place to return to without any anxiety. Therefore, we can peacefully spend our life because we know that we shall return to the relieved world.
