仏教書レビューブックレット6号が発行されました "Bukkyosho(Books on Buddhism) Review Booklet" No.6 has just been published

私の勤務先、浄土真宗本願寺派総合研究所は、小冊子「仏教書レビューブックレット」6号を発行しました。浄土真宗本願寺派総合研究所はウェブ上に「仏教書レビュー」を公開していて、そこから選んだ書評をまとめたものです。
このブックレットは、浄土真宗本願寺派の東京教区(関東地方と山梨県、静岡県)の寺院に発送されることになっています。近日、築地本願寺や築地本願寺銀座サロンでも入手できるようになります。

Jodo Shinshu Studies & Research Center has published "Bukkyosho(Books on Buddhism) Review Booklet" No.6. "Bukkyosho Review" (Book review of books on Buddhism) is made public on the web site of the center. The booklet is a selection of the book review.
The booklets are expected to be sent to temples of Jodo Shinshu (The True Essence of Pure Land Buddhist Teaching) in Kanto area, Yamanashi prefecture and Shizuoka prefecture in a few days. You will soon be able to take the booklets at Tsukiji Hongwanji temple and the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza salon.

落語「金明竹」で仏教を考えよう Thinking about Buddhism through a rakugo "Kimmeichiku"

5月23日(木)、築地本願寺銀座サロンで「おてらくごのススメ」が開かれます。19時開演です。
まず古今亭志ん吉さんに落語「金明竹」を演じて頂きます。そして私が、「気がつくということ」についてお話しします。

On May 23, "OTERAKUGO NO SUSUME" , an event to like Buddhism through rakugo will be held at the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza Salon. It will start at 7:00 p.m.

First, Mr. KOKONTEI Shinkichi will perform a rakugo "Kimmeichiku". Next, I will talk about "noticing".

仏教書レビュー更新 New book reviews on Buddhism are released

仏教に関する本の書評をするサイト、仏教書レビューが更新されました。(私の勤務先、浄土真宗本願寺派総合研究所が運営しています)。これで440冊の書評・紹介を掲載することとなります。皆様のご協力に感謝申し上げます。
今回の新規の掲載は以下の通りです。

・岡村喜史著『日本史のなかの親鸞聖人　歴史と信仰のはざまで』(本願寺出版社)
・大來尚順著『カンタン英語で浄土真宗入門』(法蔵館)

東日本大震災から8年It has been 8 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake

平成23(2011)年3月11日、東日本大震災が発生しました。あれから8年になります。被災地の復興は進んでいますが、まだ多くの人々が苦しんでいます。こういった人たちのことを忘れないようにしたいものです。

今日、多くの仏教寺院で、犠牲者のための法要が営まれます。

この写真は築地本願寺です。

On March 11 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. 8 years have passed since the earthquake occurred. The restoration of the disaster area is proceeding. Though, considerable people still suffer from the disaster. I'd like to remember them.

Many Buddhist temples hold service for the victims of the disaster, today.

お経って何だろう？ What are sutras (Buddhist scriptures)?

築地本願寺の月刊誌、『築地本願寺新報』3月号が発行されました。特集記事「お経って何だろう」を、私が書かせて頂きました。この中で、(1)お経はどのように作られたのか？(2)なぜ日本のお経は漢文で書いてあるのか？(3)お経を読むのは何のため？、について書かせてもらっています。読んで頂ければ幸いです。

The March issue of The Tsukiji Hongwanji Shimpo, a monthly magazine of Tsukiji Hongwanji temple has been published. The feature article of the issue is "What are sutras (Buddhist scriptures)?".

I wrote in the article following; (1) How were sutras formed? (2) In Japan, why are sutras written in the classical Chinese? (3) Why do we read or recite sutras?

I wish you to read it. I'm happy if you read it.

「間違ってません」は必要なメッセージ "You are not wrong" is a necessary message for us

「おてらくごのススメ」が3月5日、築地本願寺銀座サロンで開かれました。15名の方にお越し頂きました。ありがとうございます。

はじめに、三遊亭圓雀師匠に落語「猿後家」を演じていただきました。ある後家さん、お店を持っていて、人を雇えるぐらいお金持ちなのですが、自分の顔が猿に似ていることを気にしていました。だから、店では猿に関係する言葉が使えなかったのです。

その後、私が「気にする心」についてお話ししました。私たちは、自分が「本来ならこうであるべき」姿になっているかどうかを気にします。「こうであるべき姿」になることができないと、それが悩みの種になります。そんな時、「私(たち)は間違っていない」というメッセージを受け取れば、悩まないでいることができるようになるのです。顔が猿みたいだとしても、決して間違っているわけでありません。

"OTERAKUGO NO SUSUME", nan event to like Buddhism through rakugo(Japanase taditional comic storytelling) was held at Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza salon on March 5. 15 guests came to the event. Thank you for coming.

First, Mr. SANYUTEI Enjaku performed a rakugo "Saru Goke"("SARU" means monkeys, "Goke" means widows). That story was following : A widow was an owner of a store, she was rich enough to hire some employees. She disliked that her face looked like a monkey. So, they couldn't use words concerning monkeys in her store.

Next, I talked about minding something. We mind whether we are ideal state. When we can't be ideal state, we worry about it. If we receive message that we are not wrong, we can be relieved. It is never evil even if your face looks like a monkey.
