研修会の講師をしてきました

4月27日(木)、静岡東組の総代研修会のため、寳專寺様(静岡県伊東市)に伺い、「総代の役務」のテーマでお話しさせて頂きました。このようなご縁を頂き、有難く思います。

子供達は毎日学校に通います。でも、学力をつけるためには、家庭学習の習慣が必要です。教えを後々に伝えるためには、家庭での習慣が必要です。そのためには、僧侶だけではなく、門徒の方々の協力が必要です。

At April 27, I visited Hosenji at Ito city, Shizuoka prefecture. A seminar for representatives of adherents was held at the temple. I talked about roles of representatives of adherents at the seminar.

Children go to school everyday. But, habits of home study are necessary. Habits in home are necessary to pass religious down to posterity. Thus, it is needed that not only priests but adherents make efforts it.

The garden of the temple is beautiful.

人間は良くて悪い～おてらくごのススメ～

寄席情報の月刊誌『東京かわら版』5月号が届きました。102ページに5月23日開催の、「おてらくごのススメ」の情報が掲載されました。
古今亭志ん吉さんに「夏泥」を演じて頂きます。そして私が「人間って良いの？悪いの？」と題して、人間の善悪についてお話しします。
「夏泥」は仏教と直接関係ありませんが、この落語には人間の良さと悪さが見えてきます。

At May 23, "OTERAKUGO NO SUSUME" , an event to like Buddhism through rakugo will be held at the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza Salon.

Mr. KOKONTEI Shinkichi will perform a rakugo "Natsu Doro (Summer Thief) ". "Natsu Doro" do not concern with Buddhism. But, you can see human beings' goodness and evils in this rakugo.

I will talk about human beings' goodness and evils through Buddhism.

お仏壇は何のため？

「仏壇は故人を祀るためのもの」というのが、一般的な認識のようです。本来は、日常的に仏様にお参りするためのものです。

It is tend to think that Buddhist altars are for worshipping the ancestors. Essentially, Buddhist altars are for daily worshipping Buddhas.

教育勅語は難しい

森友学園の問題が話題になっています。教育勅語が教材であることを批判する人もいれば、容認する人もいます。

私は、教育勅語を園児に唱和させるのは反対です。理由は、園児にとって言葉が難しすぎるからです。

お寺の幼稚園では、仏教の教えを平易な言葉で表現して、それを園児に唱和させることがよくあります。教育勅語を原文で唱和させるのは工夫がありません。

教育勅語の内容については、論評を控えます。

Problems on Moritomo Gakuen have become topics. Some people criticize that the Imperial Rescript on Education is one of teaching material, others accept it.

I oppose to make kindergarten children recite the Imperial Rescript on Education. The reason is that its words are too difficult for children.

Kindergartens of Buddhist temples often express teachings of Buddhism in plain words, make their children recite them. It is not a good way to make kindergarten children recite the Imperial Rescript on Education in the original texts.

I refrain from commenting on the contents of the Imperial Rescript on Education.

NHK Eテレ・こころの時代「唯識に生きる」

NHK Eテレ「こころの時代」で、今年4月から9月まで、「唯識に生きる」が放送されます。講師は横山紘一先生(立教大学名誉教授)です。
