日本には、戦争するよりも自国を敵国に明け渡す方が良いと主張する人々がいます。では、前例を参照したいと思います。
1940年、ソ連はバルト三国をソ連に編入することを要求しました。3国はソ連との戦争を避けるため、やむを得ずその要求を受け入れました。リトアニアの大統領はなんとか脱出しましたが、エストニアの大統領とラトビアの大統領は身柄を拘束されました。この3国は1991年に独立し、現在はNATO(北大西洋条約機構)の加盟国です。つまり、侵略には戦うということです。
冷戦時代、日本では「赤旗、白旗」という言葉がありました。赤旗は共産主義を表し、白旗は降伏の意味です。つまり、ソ連が日本に侵攻してきたら戦争を避けるために即座に降伏すべきだということです。「赤旗、白旗」を考えるなら、バルト三国の事例を参考にすべきだったでしょう。

In 1940, Moscow demanded the three Baltic countries constitute the Soviet Union. They reluctantly accepted the demand to avoid war against the Soviet Union. The Estonian president and the Latvian president were arrested by the Soviet Union, while the Lithuanian president managed to escape. These three became independent in 1991. Now, they are members of NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It means that they will fight against invasions.
During the Cold War, some people in Japan claimed "Red flags, white flags". Red flags represent communism, and white flags mean surrender. Thus, that saying means that we should have surrendered to the Soviet Union immediately to avoid war if the Soviet Union had invaded Japan. If we had considered "Red flags, white flags," we should have referred to the case of the three Baltic countries.
