On July 27, we streamed "Ginza No Rakugodera", an event to like Buddhism through rakugo from the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza salon. Thank you for watching it.
First, Mr. SANYUTEI Enjaku performed a rakugo “Shinigami” (The Grim Reaper).
Next, I talked about characters (personified objects). There are various kinds of characters. I suppose that monsters are some characters, personified objects which we fear. We can hear stories in which such characters appear. And, I think that the Grim Reaper is death personified. Some sutras also describe death as a demon. We are all mortal even if we are currently vital. This is one of the most important teachings of Buddhism. This rakugo also shows the same.
