3月8日(水)、落語を通して仏教に親しむ企画「おてらくごのススメ」が、築地本願寺銀座サロンで開かれました。前回より多くの方にお越し頂きました。ありがとうございます。
今回は三遊亭春馬師匠に落語「寿限無」を演じて頂きました。「寿限無」は「寿命に限りがない」という意味です。これは、阿弥陀仏の別名「無量寿仏」の「無量寿」と同じです。インドのサンスクリット語の「アミターユス Amitayus」は「限りない寿命」という意味です。これを意味で訳すと「無量寿」、発音を漢字に当てると「阿弥陀」です。つまり、「寿限無」は阿弥陀仏と同じ意味なのです。
落語「寿限無」では、両親は子供にものすごく長い名前を付けました。それは、名前の候補をどれも捨てられなかったからです。
どれかを選ぶと言うことは、それ以外を捨てることでもあります。選ぶときに迷うのは、どれも捨てたくないからです。
選ぶときに迷ったら、自分で自分に、「一番じゃなきゃダメなんですか？」と声をかけて下さい。一番を目指すことと「一番じゃなきゃダメ」は違います。「一番でなくても、問題がなければ良い選択だ」、そういう考えでいる方が、結局は良いものを選べるのです。

At March 8, "OTERAKUGO NO SUSUME" , an event to like Buddhism through rakugo was held at the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza Salon. More people came there than last time. Thank you for coming.
Mr. SANYUTEI Haruba performed a rakugo "Jugemu" . "Jugemu" means a limitless life span. "Amitayus Buddha" means "the Buddha of Immeasurable Life". Therefore, "Jugemu" and "Amitayus" mean the same.
In a rakugo "Jugemu" , the parents named their son a very long name. Because they did not abandon all suggestions on his name.
Selecting is abandoning the others. If you are irresolute, it means that you do not want to abandon anything.
When you were irresolute, you should to ask yourself "Is all bad except the best ? " Aiming the best is different from "All is bad except the best".
You can select better when you think "No troubles means a good select even if my select was not the best".
