「葬式は要らない」という人がいます。しかし、人類は亡き人を弔う習慣を保ち続けてきました。葬儀には時間も費用もかかりますが、葬儀は遺族の負担を軽くしてくれるものなのです。
Some people assert that we do not need funeral ceremonies. But, human beings have kept customs of mourning for the deceased. Although funeral ceremonies usually take time and costs, funeral ceremonies can relieve bereaved family's loads.
5月22日(火)、「おてらくごのススメ」が築地本願寺銀座サロンで開かれました。16名の方にお越し頂きました。ありがとうございます。
まずはじめに、古今亭志ん吉さんに落語「紙入れ」を演じて頂きました。「紙入れ」は不倫の話です。話の中で、不倫の関係が危うくばれそうになります。
その後、私が「秘密」についてお話ししました。お釈迦さまはある時、ある男性が自分の罪を告白して後悔していることを、ほめ讃えました。お釈迦さまは亡くなる少し前、「私は隠し事なく教えを説いてきました」と語りました。お釈迦さまは、秘密に否定的だったのです。
私たちは、自分の過ちを隠したくなります。でも、過ちを隠すことは、過ちを省みないことです。自分の過ちを白状することで、私たちの心は軽やかになるのです。自分の過ちを告白する相手は、人間でなくても構いません。
自分自身を省みることは、過ちを繰り返さないようにしようとすることです。それは自分だけでなく、周りの人々にもよいことなのです。
On May 22, "OTERAKUGO NO SUSUME", an event to like Buddhism through rakugo was held at the Tsukiji Hongwanji Ginza Salon. 16 guests came there. Thank you for coming.
First, Mr. KOKONTEI Shinkichi performed a rakugo "Kami ire" (a wallet for bills). This is a story of an adulterous relationship. The an adulterous relationship was nearly uncoverd in the story.
Next, I talked about secrets.
On one occasion, the Buddha praised a man because he had confessed and repented his sin. The Buddha told that he had preached you sermons without covering them when he was dying. The Buddha was negative about secrets.
You want to hide your sin, but hiding your sin means paying no attention to your sin. Your mind are released as you confess your sin to someone. It is no problem even if those who you confess your sin to are not human beings.
Reflecting on yourselves means that you try to prevent to repeat sin. It is good for people around you as well as you.

5月9日、庭野平和財団による、第35回庭野平和賞贈呈式に行ってきました。会場は東京・六本木の国際文化会館です。私は庭野平和財団のメンバーではありませんが、浄土真宗本願寺派総合研究所の出張で参加したのです。
受賞者は、アディアン財団です。この財団は、2006年にレバノンで、宗派の異なる5人によって設立され、平和のために活動しています。
アディアン財団のファディ・ダウ理事長が記念講演を行いました。ダウ理事長がこの講演で強調したのは、多様性です。ダウ理事長はこう話しました。「多様性のないところに、平和はありません。多様性に理解のない人が平和を築こうとすると、不公平で支配的な状況を作り、苦しみと暴力を引き起こすことになります。」
On May 9, I went to The 35th Presentation Ceremony of The Niwano Peace Prize at The International House of Japan, Roppongi, Tokyo. The Prize is presented by The Niwano Peace Foundation. I am not a member of The Niwano Peace Foundation, I attended it for a business trip of The Jodo Shinshu Studies and Research Center.
The Recipient of the prize is The Adyan Foundation. It was founded at Lebanon in 2006, it works on building peace. The 5 founders each belong to different denomination.
A commemorative address was done by Professor Fadi Daou, a president of the Adyan Foundation. It was diversity that Professor Daou emphasized at the address. She said "There is no diversity, there is no peace. Those who want to build peace without recognizing diversity, they finish by creating unfair and hegemonic situations, and generate sufferings and violence"
仏教に関する本の書評をするサイト、仏教書レビューが更新されました。(私の勤務先、浄土真宗本願寺派総合研究所が運営しています)。これで421冊の書評・紹介を掲載することとなります。皆様のご協力に感謝申し上げます。
